Boca do Mundo is a continuation of the research of choreographer and visual artist Marcio Cunha, who investigates, through his choreographic works, the energetic body and its plastic structures. 
Boca do Mundo overflows with a hunger for Brazil! 

It is at the crossroads—within the capoeira roda—that communication with the audience takes place. 

An evocation of Brazilian popular dances and characters unfolds in a scenic crossroads, where performers, through music and dance, embody enchanted beings from all corners of the country. 

Marcio Cunha is the son of Capoeira masters, and in 2022 he premiered the solo Pipoca (popcorn), a work in homage to his father, nicknamed Pipoca, and to Obaluaê, the orixá for whom popcorn is a symbol of healing. 
Boca do Mundo emerges from the desire to deepen and expand this study of the syncretism found in capoeira rodas, rites of arrival and passage, songs, and African itans. 

Within this plastic, ritualistic, and at the same time poetic universe, the performance engages with the playful, dreamlike dimension of popular figures, costumes, and carnival masks. 

Boca do Mundo is for and with Exu, an enchanted entity of African-rooted culture. 
“Exu is the meeting point and the crossing of our knowledge and our ignorance,” as Simas reminds us. 

Exu is the Messenger. Without him, humans cannot communicate with the Orixás. 

Exu is the in-between—and in Boca do Mundo, he becomes the communication between the territory of Brazil and its people, evoking ancestry, identity, and plurality through the enchanted and playful bodies of the performers.
